Another beautiful weekend for yard work…

It was summer like weather in the middle of April this weekend so Jordan and I took full advantage of it and got going on some more yard work.  Each time we work out there it starts looking better and better… which is good, cause we need it for motivation to keep going!

We had a big, ugly utility box to hide and here is our finished product!  Cute picket fence with perennial plants and we topped off with black mulch (had no idea that made black mulch but it looks sooo good) and our license plate bird house!  I am pretty proud of how cute this turned out!

The start of our raspberry patch!  It’ll be interesting to take a picture of this again in a couple of years to see how much it has grown!

A Day In the Life

Jordan and I have been keeping busy lately; both our jobs  are hectic lately, we have been getting some orders for our catering business as well as continually baking for the stations, and we are trying to get our yard done.

We recently bought some trees for the front and back yard.  We put a flowering plum and pear tree in the back as well as a maple tree (my little way of paying hommage to my homeland!) and we are still planning on adding some quakies back there as well.

In the front we dug out a flower bed and I planted some peonies and gladiolas.  We planted some tulips there in the fall and they are getting ready to bloom!  I can’t wait to have that pop of color in the front!  We also got a dappled willow to put in the front, it’s just little right now but it’s super cute!

The east side of our front yard is basically done, we are just waiting for the grass to grow in, which is the most painful thing ever!  Ok, I’m being a bit overdramatic but there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t yell at that grass to grow faster!  The west side is a different story, we still have a lot of work to do over there.  We have begun digging out to put a cement walkway into the back so we are just waiting to get that done and poured.  We also have a big hideous powerbox sitting in the front of our property, so we decided to build a mini picket fence to put around it to hide it.  We also have one more flower bed to get ready and then we have to put grass seed down and get that growing!  So much to do!  But it’s going to look so good once it’s done!

Other than that, we have just been trying to enjoy each others company and spend time with Roxy and Hurley.  Just enjoying life one day at a time!

Crafty Husbands are the BEST!

Jordan and I have been dying to get out and work in the yard, we are so excited to basically have a blank canvas to do whatever we want to it… but that being said the weather hasn’t felt our same sense of excitement so we have been keeping ourselves busy with crafty things and adding homey touches to our house.

Jordan never fails to leave me in awe of all his talents.  For example, I was on Pinterest one day and I found some curtains that I liked, so I showed him and he goes “we can make those” and I go “Really?”  So off we go to get fabric, we borrow his Mom’s sewing machine and ta-dah!  Jordan makes the curtains!  They turned out so nice, complete with super cute ruffles!

We also decided that the kitchen needed a pop of color, so again Mr. I Can Do Anything just whipped these up, he honestly makes it look easy.  He made these cornices in a couple of hours one Saturday!  They look so adorable with the green in the kitchen, so happy and bright!

And lastly, Roxy has a ton of bandanas (a girl’s gotta accessorize right?!) and they have been overflowing out of the basket I have to keep them in, so I told Jordan that I needed something to hang her bandanas and Hurley’s jackets up on… this is what he came up with!  So cute!  Now I can see all of them at once and they are up and out of the way!  Perfect!

Sometimes I feel bad for girls who don’t have crafty husbands!  jk jk jk  It’s more that I always just feel extraordinarily blessed!

Family Photos

We had some pictures taken awhile ago and I’m only getting around to posting them now… but better late than never right?!

Roxy and Hurley AND Jordan (haha!) were all so well behaved for the photographer, they made me so proud!
